Jennie Jane Harvey, 83, passed away on May 11, 2016. Jane was born on Monday, October 24th, 1932, to US Army Lt. Colonel Charles R. Bard, and his wife Mrs. Elsie Mae Smith Bard, in Honolulu, Hawaii. As any Army brat, she lived many places all over the country. During WWII her mother came back to live in Dallas with her and her sister Cheryl. She graduated from Sunset High School in December of 1950. On September 27, 1952, Jane married Eugene Ralph Harvey. They made their home in South Oak Cliff and had three children, Susan, Cindy and Mike. In the early 1960's the family moved to Duncanville where she had made her home until her death. Her greatest joy in life was being mother to her three children and a wife to Gene. Jane was primarily homemaker, but also worked outside the home. She worked briefly at Sanger Harris Dept. Store during the holidays. In 1969, Jane went to work full-time for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service in Career Management. She retired from there and worked part-time at MJ Designs as a floral designer. She enjoyed many activities throughout her 83 years. As a family, they all enjoyed the outdoors, spending many weekends at the lake boating, skiing, and fishing at area lakes. Jane and Gene also enjoyed dancing and bowling together. They were excellent dancers together. In her later years, she could be found "in the yard" morning to night. She loved to tend her flower gardens and yard, creating a lush green oasis on the property surrounding her home that she loved. Jane enjoyed many collections and the search of those treasures in antiques stores and flea markets. Jane loved many things in life but she adored her family. She is preceded in death most recently by her former husband Gene who died three years ago this month. Theirs was an unusual love story. Although they divorced in the 1990's, they remained very close all along, and loved each other to the end. She is also preceded in death by her parents and her beloved Auntie Ruthie, Ruth Leath. Mrs. Harvey, Mother, Granny, Jane, as she was called, is survived by her daughter Susan and her husband Daniel McLeland, of Venus, Cindy and her husband Terry Barton, of Midlothian, Mike and his wife Deborah Harvey, of Duncanville; grandchildren Donald and his wife Rhonda McLeland, Tiffani and her husband Jon Bourland, Mesa, AZ, Alicia and her husband Rick Rosales, Grand Prairie, Lacie and her husband Joseph Melms, Midlothian, John and his wife Nickolet Blackstock, Maypearl, namesake Jennie and her husband Sean Kirkpatrick, Venus, Jessica Aguirre of Las Vegas, and Jolie Aguirre of Duncanville, great-grandchildren Taylor Contreras, Chandler Rosales, Samuel Rosales, Colton Robinson, Cody Bourland, Emily Rosales, Sean Forest Kirkpatrick, Gracie Melms, Angelina Blackstock, Nolan Melms, Guerryg Melms, Robert Blackstock and Amalia Kirkpatrick; her sister Cheryl Bard Robertson; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she loved.
