Jeffrey Robert Phillips, 70, of Dallas Texas, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 after a lengthy battle with cancer. His adoring family was by his side as he passed peacefully at home. Jeff was born to Marjorie and George Phillips in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Jeff graduated from Mary D Bradford H.S. in Kenosha, WI, and Bradley University in Peoria, IL with a BBA Degree. Jeff was a natural born leader, a successful entrepreneur, a devoted son, husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather who provided, love, support and guidance to his family. Jeff is preceded in death by his father George, his stepfather Neil Cowin, and his mother and father-in-law William and Selma Landau. Jeff is survived by his mother, Marjorie Cowin, his loving wife Sandra (Sandy) of 34 years, his son, Gregory, daughters, Rhonda Ringler, Rochelle Ringler-Hernandez, (Freddy), and twin grandsons, Landon and Logan, who were his greatest joy, his brother Judson Phillips (OriAnn), niece and nephews, Micall, Brandon and Kace and brother-in-law Jerry Landau of Dallas, Texas. Jeff moved to Sherman, Texas, in 1973, where he established his roots as a McDonald’s Franchisee. This led him to becoming a multiple McDonald’s restaurant Owner/Operator with Sandy and their children working by his side. Jeff was an incredibly generous man. He was instrumental in organizing the first Ronald McDonald House in Dallas, which was one of the first to open debt free. Jeff later became chairman of the “Ronald McDonald House Charities”. Since its inception, it has granted millions of dollars to non-profit children’s organizations in the Dallas - Ft. Worth Metro area. Jeff received many awards and much recognition throughout his 42 year career with McDonald’s. In 2009, Jeff and Sandy received McDonald’s most prestigious award, the “Ronald Award”. This award recognizes owner/operators who have made outstanding contributions to the development of McDonald’s image in the areas of advertising, promotion, and public relations. Jeff’s door was always open, both Jeff and Sandy truly believe, if you take care of your employees, they will take care of you. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the Phillips McDonald’s McFamily. Their dedication and loyalty through the years has been and always will be comforting and rewarding. Additionally, Dr. Mark Fleschler for his care and support to the Phillips family for over 30 years. Maurene Hill, their devoted house-keeper for over 30 years and Gifty Adomako with Custom Caregivers, who cared for Jeff during his final days. Jeff enjoyed traveling to the Caribbean, attending car shows as well as collecting vintage cars and especially a good Cuban Cigar. Services will be held at Temple Emanu-El, Olan Sanctuary, 8500 Hillcrest, Dallas, Texas, at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 9,2015. Rabbi Asher Knight officiating.
