Jeanette "Janie" Louise Daugherty

Janie was born in Pilot Point, Texas, on February 25, 1929 to August and Mary Burger Henzler. She graduated as class salutatorian from St. Edwards Catholic School in Dallas 1947. She was married to Roy Daugherty on October 29, 1949 and they were married for 72 years.

Janie worked many years as a volunteer with church, school, and community organizations. She was actively involved in her children’s many athletic and scholastic activities, as well as being an avid gardener, seamstress, and expert crochet and cross-stitch crafter. Janie loved to fish and enjoyed RV traveling with Roy.

Janie is preceded in death by her husband, parents, six sisters, and two brothers.

Janie is survived by her children Jimmy Daugherty (Diane), Emma Mitros (Chris), Mary Daugherty, John Daugherty, Tom Daugherty (Kathy), Tim Daugherty (Cyndi), Terri Lyles (Steve), and Patti Rankin (Phil), 20 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, her sisters, Clara Faber and Mathilda Strange, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A rosary service for Janie will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Saint Augustine Catholic Church, 1054 N St. Augustine Drive, Dallas, Texas 75217. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Saint Augustine Catholic Church. A committal service will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, Texas 75220.

A meal will be shared in the church cafeteria after the Thursday services.
