Rosaline Jean Hastings Thompson passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from an extended battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was the daughter of the late Richard O. Hasting and Margaret Fairey Hastings and was born on January 25, 1955 in Columbia, SC. After obtaining both a Bachelors and Masters degree from the University of South Carolina, she moved with her (surviving) high school sweetheart and husband of 47 years, E. Earle Thompson to Texas. She was in the real estate Title business as both an Escrow Officer and manager of several Title offices.
After having her (surviving) children; Rachel Michelle Faircloth (Justin), Sara Carolyn Thompson (fiancée Macoy), and Elizabeth Christine Thompson (Justin), she devoted her time to raising her girls and creating a welcoming home, which she filled with endless snacks and love. Her home was an extension of her friendly personality, making an inviting atmosphere for her children as well as their friends and families. This, along with her charisma, warm heart, and contagious laugh, earned her the moniker “Mama Jean.” She never ran an errand without making a friend along the way, and never met a cat she didn’t at least try to adopt. She is also survived by her sister Keller Hastings and her cat, Duchess.
A celebration of life service is scheduled on Saturday, April 20, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home on Northwest Highway in Dallas, TX. The family will receive guests after the service followed by a private inurnment at the Hillcrest Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
