Jean was born in Detroit, Michigan, in May 1921. She graduated from the University of Michigan, receiving a B.A. in 1942 and an M.S. in 1946, and was president of Independent Women at the university.
She was married to Dr. George M. Jones from April 1955 to October 1997 and later married Frederick W. Fraley III in January 2007.
Jean taught English, public speaking, and etiquette in Michigan, New York, and Texas. She was a teacher from 1942 to 1946 at Mount Clemens High School in Mount Clemens, Michigan; an instructor at Arthur Murray Studio in New York City from 1946 to 1947; and an instructor at John Robert Powers School of Modeling in Detroit from 1947 to 1951 and in Dallas from 1951 to 1955.
Jean had a passion for her family, church, community, and country. She was a member of Park Cities Presbyterian Church and also attended church at Highland Park Presbyterian. She loved singing and playing the piano for family, friends, and patients and visitors at local hospitals. She was president of the Dallas County Medical Society Auxiliary and Dallas Public Affairs Luncheon Club and was a former member of the Dallas Woman’s Club, Dallas Eagle Forum, and Park Cities Republican Women. She was also a precinct chair and delegate for the Republican Convention.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Genevieve Hubbard; sister Edith Hubbard Tew; and husband Dr. George M. Jones. She is survived by her husband Frederick W. Fraley III; children Jerry and Teri Jones, Jimmy and Terrie Jones, George and Molly Jones, Joe and Angelica Jones, Judy and Frank Rogers, Dr. Jeff and Crysta Jones, and Dr. Jay and Diane Jones; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister Esther Coneff.
There will be a memorial service Friday, January 31, at 4 p.m. for family and friends at Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Dallas.
