On July 9, 2017, J.D. Batteas of Carrollton, TX, passed from us, having recently celebrated his 88th birthday. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy, two brothers and three sisters, his four children, William, Frank, Rose and James, along with eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Born in Hammon OK, but growing up in Roby, TX, J.D. entered the US Army Air Forces (later to be the US Air Force) in 1946. J.D. had travelled the world and was a radio engineer in the Berlin Airlift, his contributions to which, earned him the Legion of Merit in 1949. Once retired from the military, he continued his career in radar and telecommunications starting in New York with RCA and then with Mitel Corporation in New York and then later in Texas. J.D. had lived in Carrollton since 1980, having moved from Rome, NY. He enjoyed so many things in his life, baseball, gardening, singing in the choir at church, wood working, and his loving family.
