Born Janie Lou Winston, March 1, 1942 to Mr. Lacy Winston and Mrs. Mary Lou Tyson-Winston in Jefferson, Texas. Janie resided in Jefferson, Texas until the age or eight when she then moved to Dallas, Texas and have resided until death. She was preceded in death by her Father, Lacy Winston, her mother Mary Lou Tyson-Winston, her two sisters, Alzonia Waites (Aubrey), and Juanita Carey (Earnest). Four brothers; Lee Andrew Waites, Glen Winston (Maxine), Lacy Winton Jr (Yvonne), Jimmy Lee Winston (Ellarene) and Noah Winston.
She leaves to cherish her memories; her husband of 51 years Leon, her sons, Phillip Eugene Winston (Linda); Michael Anthony Winston (Pamela); her daughters, Debra Ann Freeman and Anita Rowe (Kelvin). Two stepdaughters Barbara Ann Pierce (Sherman) and Mary Jo Lavallis. Her twelve grandchildren; Maisha Oni Brinkley (Reginald), Rashad Freeman, Mark Anthony Taylor, Phillip Eugene Winston Jr. (preceded in death), Keon Winston, Dejon Ly’Dale Winston, Kendrick Bernard Greer, Stephon Jamal Greer, Jania An’Chare Greer, Ashley Nicole Winston and Jamayah Michele Winston. Thirteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Janie joined Goodwill Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas under the stewardship of the late Pastor J C Huey in 1972. She then became a member of True Believers of Christ Community Church of Balch Springs, Texas April 28, 1998 under the stewardship of Pastor M L Dorsey Sr; Founder. There she has serve as a faithful member until death.
Janie worked for National Linen Service of Dallas, Texas for over 35 years as a floor worker up to her retirement in 2004.
