Jane Page Slater, 85, of Plano, TX passed away on August 17, 2019 after a short illness. She was born in Gulfport, MS on December 6, 1933 to W.L. and Myrtis Brooks Page. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth Ray Slater, and her nephew Daron Flatt.
She graduated from Gulfport High School and graduated from Southern Mississippi University with a degree in education and taught school for one year. During that time she met her husband Ken who was stationed at Kessler Air Force Base and they married a shortly after. They had three daughters and remained married for 45 years until his death in 2001.
Jane and her family lived in Richardson, Texas and Plano, Texas where she became a Realtor in Plano, Texas for 15 years. They later moved to Ft. Walton Beach Florida and enjoyed living on the water. They returned to Plano, Texas in1988.
She enjoyed social events, such as bridge and poker parties, and going to plays with her long time friends. She was a member of the North Dallas Women’s Club and various other social organizations. Jane was an avid Texas Longhorn fan, and loved watching football. She had a zest for life, a love of music and a great sense of humor.
She is survived by her three daughters, Karen Rowland (Malcolm) of Plano, TX, Leslie Slater of McKinney, TX, and Suzy Berthelot of Fort Walton Beach, FL, as well as her two brothers Otis (Betty) Page of Slidell, LA and Wayne (Kathy) Page of Houston, TX, and her two sisters Theresa (Herbert) Struss of Gulfport, MS, and Elizabeth Flatt of Chicago, IL, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 21, 2019. Visitation is from 1 to 2 pm. Services start at 2 pm. She will join her husband in Frost, TX with private burial services on Thursday. Any donations can be made in her name to the cancer charity of your choice.
