Jane Aronson Siegel (“Janie”), born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 13, 1933, and passed away peacefully on April 4, 2010. Few among us could have celebrated life and family with more spirit and style, or survived the challenges that she encountered in her 76 years. Janie took a sleepy town by storm, when her family moved to Dallas in the 1940s. A brunette beauty with a gorgeous figure and New “Auleans” flair, she danced and charmed her way into the hearts of all knew her.Jane interrupted her studies at SMU to marry the one great love of her life, Bernard “Beanie” Siegel. Together Jane and Beanie lived fully their 17 years together, raising their five children, Mindy, Louis, Andy, Becky and Prissy at their Belmead home.Janie was the supreme hostess, welcoming dozens of family members, friends, neighbors, and distinguished visitors to her home and pool on Belmead.Janie’s home was the gathering place of choice for Precinct Meetings, Political Fiestas and New Year’s Eve Parties that were the toast of the town. Jane and Beanie were a dynamic duo, co-chairing the campaigns of U.S. Senator Ralph Yarborough, President John Kennedy and many others, where her hallmark was registering record numbers of voters and running inclusive campaigns. Jane was a lifelong Democrat and member of Hadassah, where she wrote witty ditties and musicals with friends for fundraising events. Jane’s heart was bigger than Texas - - always asking how others were during and putting family and friends first. Jane was a perfectionist, whether studying for her State Board of Insurance exams, where she set records highs, or picking colorboards in her interior design business. Widowed at 35, by sheer force of will, nerves and steadfast determination, Jane put her five children through school and graduate schools, reveling in every triumph and always there to consol or wish her children and grandchildren her signature “good-a-luck”. Jane lived for her children and grandchildren, cheering on every grandkids’ pitch, jump, DI success or happy moment as if it were her own. Jane was predeceased by her parents, Beulah and Louis Aronson, her brother, Ellis Aronson, Aunt Edna Siegel, and her brothers-in-law Gordon, Joe, and David Siegel. Jane is survived by her five children Mindy Siegel, Louis and Lorraine Lopez Siegel, Andy and Lynne Siegel, Becky and Larry Singer, Prissy and Bob Blackwell, her sister, Helen Posner, her brother and sister-in-law Leonard and Carol Aronson, her sister-in-law Marilyn Usvolk, her beloved friends Ethel and Gene Zale, her grandchildren, Benjamin, Sarah, and Emma Siegel, Adam and Matt Singer, Ethan Frechtman, Mallory and Abby Blackwell, Marie Lopez, Nick Bennett, and Jasmine Parham, her great-grandchildren Nick, Gaby and Anthony Parham, and her beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. Wednesday April 7, 2010 at Sparkman Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel. Burial will follow at Shearith Israel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Bernard “Beanie” Siegel Scholar in Residence Program at Congregation Shearith Israel, 9401 Douglas Avenue, Dallas, TX 75225.
