Mrs. Cherry was born June 10, 1919 to William Lee and Leoma Beasley. She received her elementary education in Bristow and Madill, OK. After graduation from Claremore/Madill, OK High School, she attended Northeastern University at Tahlequah, OK. There she met CQ Cherry; they were married shortly thereafter in 1940.
When CQ joined the Navy, Jane went to New Orleans to work as a secretary for one of the admirals during WWII. After the war they moved to OK then on to Raleigh, NC, then returning to Bartlesville, OK in 1965 where she wore many hats including raising two boys from cradle to the universities, managing house and home, and being active in many local service organizations.
Her beloved PEO was the most important organization where she served as President of Chapter DW, PEO. She was also a member of the Bartlesville Service League, Art Association, President of The Hillcrest Country Club Women’s Golf Association, member of The Symphony Society, and Board Member of the local YWCA.
After moving to the Edgemere in Dallas, TX in 2002, she joined Chapter DX, PEO, Highland Park United Methodist Church and The 2x2 Sunday School Class to continue her civic contributions. Jane was influential and inspirational to her family and friends. She enjoyed a long and fruitful life.
She was proceeded in death by her son Robin Lee Cherry in 1952. Survivors include sons, Dr. CQ Cherry, David L. Cherry; Grandsons, Alexander Cherry, CQ Cherry IV, Duane Cherry, Danny Miller, David Cherry Jr.; Granddaughters, Carla Cherry, Dana Szul, Kristy Reilly; Great Granddaughters, Rain Spencer, Stella Szul, Chandler Cherry, Aspen Reilly; Great Grandsons, Merric Cherry, Blake Szul, David Cherry III, and Jace Reilly.
