Dad was born in Dallas on March 29, 1919, to James A. and Rowena Sutton Wimberley and passed away at his home here in Dallas in the early morning hours of Friday, January 10, 2014, at the amazing age of 94. He was a remarkably kind man, a loving husband, and an incredibly generous, loving, and supportive father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He spent most of his career as a successful commercial real estate investor/developer, but in his seventies, when most others his age had retired, he also began to successfully invest in oil and gas working interests, continuing this well into his late eighties.
Survivors include his wife of over 60 years, Jean E. Wimberley, son Jay Wimberley and his wife Debra of Dallas, and son John E. Wimberley of Dallas. Sadly preceded in death by his two other children, son Paul A. Wimberley and daughter Ann Wimberley Bahr, but survived by Paul’s two children: Jesse Wimberley of Lewiston, Idaho, and Madelyne Wimberley of San Francisco, and Ann’s two children: Ashley Bahr Heflin and her husband Chris of Longview, and Trevor Bahr of Longview. Survivors also include Paul’s widow Rita Wimberley of Dallas, and Ann’s widower, Don Bahr of Shalimar, Florida, both of whom he loved as if they were his own, and three beautiful great grandchildren: Cody Wimberley, Brinley Heflin, and Bryson Heflin.
