MEMORIAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the First Christian Church, 203 Main St., Duncanville, Texas. A private family burial will follow. Jim was born on March 14, 1932 in Dallas, Texas. He was the only child of James and
Georgia Robinson. After graduating from Adamson High School in Oak Cliff, Jim earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force, and later, the Air Force Reserves serving in our homeland and Morocco. He was honorably discharged in 1963. Jim was a family man through and through. In 1960, he married the love of his life, Lynda Bloom Robinson. They were married 56 years and raised three sons. “Grandpa” as he was affectionately called, had six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren all of whom adored him. He was very involved with his sons, especially in their athletic endeavors and even helped coach a team of Duncanville youth to the Little League World Series. Jim was an avid sports fan. He loved watching the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and TCU Horned Frogs. Jim’s hobbies included travel, camping, golf, reading and oil painting. He worked in the mortgage business for over thirty years for a leading national mortgage lending firm.
In addition to his family, Jim was committed to community service. In his early years, he
was very involved with the Oak Cliff Jaycees. After retirement, he joined the DeSoto Elks Lodge 2552 where he served as the Leading Knight. He spent countless hours volunteering at the Dallas Veteran’s Hospital, Therapeutic Riding of Texas for special needs children and many other charities. The Elks recognized Jim for his service by naming him officer of the year, Elk of the year, and presented him with the Veteran Volunteer Award. Jim was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Duncanville. He enjoyed fellowship and bible study with his church friends.
SURVIVORS: Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lynda Robinson, son David
Robinson and wife Pam Robinson of Southlake, son Steve Robinson and wife Cathy Robinson of Wylie, son Greg Robinson of Duncanville, grandchildren Heather, Jonathan, Jill, Simone, Marissa, and James, and three great-grandchildren.
