James Patrick Ries, Sr. of Mesquite passed away Friday, at the age of 75. His death was a prayerful one at home surrounded by his 5 children. There is a saying, "A man who kneels before God can stand up to anything." He kneeled before God daily. He marveled at the beauty of nature, and enjoyed visiting the Arboretum with his friend Hilda. James was a skilled carpenter and never hesitated to help friends who asked for his assistance. He will be missed by his children, Jim, Gail, Steve, Joe and Mark; his sister Jo Ries. His grandchildren Virginia Christine, Rachel Dawn, Courtney, Colton, Trevor and Morgan; great-grandchildren, B.J., Mia, and Stetson. Visitation will be held Thursday , May 12, 2011 at Calvary Hill Funeral Home from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Friday, May 13, 2011 in the North Mausoleum Chapel at Calvary Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
