James was a kind and caring man, who gave the best hugs and had the most beautiful smile. He had an amazing love for family, friends and all who crossed his path. You always felt loved after spending time with him. He put his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and that faith and love grew and poured through him until his dying breath.
James passed away on July 24th, 2023, at the age of 73, in the care of Vitas Hospice and his loving wife. He was born on February 4th, 1950, to Marie Tamplin Willingham & James Willingham Sr. Growing up, James was a fun-loving child who enjoyed playing with his sisters and brother. James grew up in Oak Cliff and graduated from Kimball High School. He went on to earn his associate degree from Dallas College. In his early years he served in the Air Force Reserves and later became part of the Dallas College family. He dedicated his career to serve and work for Dallas College for 32 years.
James fell in love and built a beautiful life with Denise. They were married in Rhode Island on July 4th and had a wonderful 24 years together. James took pride in his family and was a loving family man, always making time to create special memories. He truly enjoyed providing and caring for their children and grandchildren. His son Bo was the light of his life and being a father to Trish filled his heart with joy. James loved fishing, motorcycle rides through the countryside, and watching the Cowboys play football.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his son, James R. Willingham III and sister, Susan Willingham.
He is survived by his wife, Denise Willingham; daughter, Natalie Bass; daughter, Patricia Hoehn; Daughter in-law Jordan Johnson; honorary daughter, Shanan Perez and husband Ruben; honorary son, Charles Chastain; brother, Timothy Willingham; sister, Kimberly Gillean and husband, Danny; Brother in-law Walter Munro and wife Liz: Sister in-law Donna Parrillo and wife Carolyn, and Sister in-law Molly Binns; Friends for 63 years Mimi and Paul Vancil.
Grandchildren include Emily, Holly, James, Hayden, Savannah, Skyler, Lilly, Laynee, Jennifer and Katherine and numerous nieces and nephews
