James "Dick" Richard McBride

James Richard McBride, age 81, passed away on March 25, 2024 in The Colony, Texas. He was born on May 16, 1942 in Orange, Texas to Arthur and Mary Lou McBride. Richard (Dick) was raised in Port Arthur, Texas and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1960, received a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering at Lamar University in 1964, and a Master's degree at the University of Arkansas in 1966. He married Patricia Garrett in 1967 and the couple had two children. He worked for the Monsanto Company, Spartan Building Supply, Texas Mill Supply, and Smith International, Inc. during his 30 year career.

In his spare time, Richard enjoyed playing tennis in high school and college at Abilene Christian University ('60-'62). His love for golf grew playing with his work colleagues and friends, but most especially with his two sons, Darren and Derek. Coaching his sons in Tee Ball, Little league and Pony League was amazing, mainly because he never played baseball himself. Deer hunting with his Dad, sons, grandson, and friends was one of his favorite past times. But, watching his three grandchildren play tennis and soccer was his favorite. Family vacations were always full of fun and good times.

Richard's family and friends will always remember him as a life long Christian; someone who deeply loved his wife, children, and grandchildren; and a great storyteller, jokester, and teaser.

Richard is survived by his wife of 56 years, Pat; sons Darren (Camille) and Derek (Kristy); grandchildren, Madison McBride, Dylan McBride, and Laney McBride; and sister, Mary Ellen Henry.

The memorial service will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM at McDermott Road Church of Christ, 3600 McDermott Road, Plano, TX 75025. The service will be live streamed at www.ccmcdermott.org/funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to:
