James Hopkins, Jr., born on November 13, 1933, in Honey Grove, Texas, passed away on May 22, 2017, in Dallas, Texas. James proudly served his country in the United States Army. He served as a deacon at Faithful Baptist Church and later join the Destiny Christian Center. James retired from Wonder Bread in 1995 where he worked on the assembly line. James married Frances Curry, and to this union three children were born. He later married Bettie Hopkins, and with this union he welcomed her seven children. He is preceded in death by parents, James Hopkins, Sr., and Zonia Steward; brothers, sisters, and two grandchildren. Those who are left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 43 years, Bettie Hopkins; children, Lawrence Wayne Hopkins (Kelly), Twuyla Sherea Hopkins, and Celvin Mance Hopkins (Janice); stepchildren, Ray Johnson (Annette), Joyce McDowell (Ray), Jeanette Sawyer, Robert William, Phyllis Randle (Sam), Karl William (Sylvia) and Marcus William (Cinthia); 32 grandchildren and host of great-grandchildren; two sisters, Susie Hopkins and Sarah Releford; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
