James was born on January 25, 1961 to Elizabeth and James Hefner in Dallas, Texas. After graduation from Highland Park High School, James graduated from Southern Methodist University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA. James began his career in banking at First City Bank where he met his future wife, Lynne. James and Lynne’s mutual love for the ocean led to a move to San Diego, California. James and Lynne were married on March 17, 1990. Their first child, Jordan, was born in 1991 in La Jolla, California. Upon Lynne and James expecting their second child, they decided to move back to their families in Dallas, where Graham was born in 1993. James went on to have a successful career in banking. In his free time, James enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, sailing, and live music.
James is preceded in death by his sister, Finley McDonald, and his parents, James and Elizabeth Hefner.
He is survived by his wife Lynne, their children Jordan and Graham, and his nephew James McDonald and his family. He was a beloved husband, father, and friend. He will be greatly missed. We were lucky to have him.
