James Donnell, a humble and dedicated servant, left this earth Tuesday, January 16, 2013 to be a permanent resident of his home in heaven. James was born November 8, 1930 to Alfred and Bessie Donnell. They predeceased him, as well as his brother, Stanley. His only survivor is his wife of 54 years, Jean. James graduated from Sunset High School and SMU. Jean attended high school with James and they were later married in 1959. James had an illustrious banking career. He served as a member of the State Bank of Examiners, Foreign Bank in New York (where he served for 3 years). Returning to Texas, he assisted in the opening of the Bank of Dallas. Following that time of service, he joined the Oak Cliff Bank and Trust and served there the rest of his banking career. He served as president of that bank from 1987 until his retirement in 1996. James was a member and president of the American Institute and Banking, the Optimist Club, The Oak Cliff Bank and Trust, and an active participant in the American Cancer Society. James was a member of the First Baptist Church, Dallas, member of the Criswell Bible Class and later the Presidents' Bible Class where he served as president in 2011-2012. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Dallas, serving as an active deacon. James Donnell was humble and committed to his Lord, his wife, his church and his community.
