Jacqueline Scott

Irma Jacqueline Scott, 97 met her Savior on August 31, 2019 in Dallas, TX. She was born August 1, 1922 in Dallas, TX to Aulsey and Irma Cowand. Jackie was raised in Dallas and graduated from Forest Avenue High School in 1939, she continued her education at North Texas Teachers College. She married her adoring husband Samuel Floyd Scott in 1941; they had 64 amazing and cherished years together in which they had five wonderful children. Jackie was a teacher’s aide and bus driver at San Jacinto, Bayles and Conner schools where she spent more than 25 years of dedicated service. Her true passion and enjoyments were being a matriarch of the family, to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; she followed all their sporting and dance events. She especially loved spoiling her grandchildren. Jackie’s past times including playing 42 and dominos, card games, reading, and solving crossword puzzles.

Interesting fact about Jackie is that she was a descendent of William Nelson Coombes, the second family to settle in Dallas in the 1840s. Jackie was a lifelong member of Pleasant Mound United Methodist Church, and was a devoted Christian. She will always be remembered as a loving, compassionate, selfless; mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and the biggest cheerleader to them all.

Jackie is preceded in death by her parents, Aulsey and Irma Cowand; loving husband, Samuel Floyd Scott; cherished son, Doug Scott; brothers, George and Bateman Cowand.

She is survived by her beloved children, Doug’s wife Kay Scott, Steve Scott and wife Kathy, Mike Scott and wife Susan, Janyce Scott, Shelley McNaughton and husband David,; Grandchildren, Paul Scott and wife Janice, Cindy Scott Loy, Jennifer Babcock and husband David, Sarah Geis and husband Justin, Rebecca Scott, Kevin Clapp, Mariah McNaughton, and Lauren Clapp; Great- Grandchildren, Scott Loy, Samantha Marsh, Lindsay Tomalin, Lexi Kirkpatrick, Kaitlynn Scott, Everest Kelly.
