

Jacqueline Russell long time PISD administrator and school principal left this life on May 31, 2010 in Austin, TX. Jacque was born in Monahans, TX to John and Vyneta Cain, both of whom preceded her in death, as did her youngest brother, Joe Cain. Jacque attended school in El Paso where she later married Richard E. Russell who also preceded her in death. Jacque came from a family of educators and, while substituting in Special Education, found teaching to be her true vocation as well. She attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso, where she began her teaching career. Then, while teaching in Plano, she earned her Master's Degree in Education from North Texas State University in Denton, TX. She won many awards throughout her career including 'Humanitarian of The Year' as a teacher in Jackson, MS. and 'Teacher of The Year' in Plano TX.
After just three years in Plano Jacque was named Principal at the brand new Hughston Elementary School and went on to open Hendrick Middle School and Daffron Elementary School in Plano, TX. She topped off her career by administering the Gifted program for Plano Independent School District.
She relocated to New Mexico and within one year was named principal of Wood-Gormley Elementary in Santa Fe. She finally retired after five more years as a principal in Farmington, NM at Bluffview Elementary School.
Jacque leaves behind her daughters Kymberly Arnold of Plano, TX and Kelly Pierce and her husband Michael, of Austin, TX, grandsons Jeremy and Jason Smith; her brother John Cain and his wife Rose of Sulphur, LA; her sister Gail Lane and nephew David Lane of Albuquerque, NM; sister Deborah Cain and Polly Gibb of Denver, CO; her lifelong friend Linda Lee Wilson Kennedy and her husband Bruce, of Thorndale, TX. She also leaves behind countless students and teachers whose lives she deeply touched.
Please join her family and friends at a celebration of Jacque’s life at on Saturday June 26th, 2010 at the Ted Dickey West Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM. In keeping with her love of animals, memorial donations in her name can be made to the ASPCA.
