Jack Perkins passed away on October 27, 2019 in Mesquite, just a few months shy of his 100th birthday. He was born to his loving parents Truman and Annie Perkins on January 17, 1920 on a small cotton farm in Hunt County. Jack grew up in Hickory Creek near Greenville, Texas and went on to join the Navy as a young man. He valiantly fought in World War II, as well as served in the Pacific. Jack was part of one of the very first Navy crews to enter Hiroshima after the war.
In addition to his service, Jack was a loyal and hardworking man. After the war, Jack worked as a door-to-door milkman in Houston, as well as serving the University Park area for 15 years. Jack went on to enjoy a successful career spanning over 50 years with Borden’s Dairy in Dallas, Texas.
Jack is preceded in death by his beloved wife Helen, his parents, Brother Ray Perkins and sisters Quinnie Young and Edna Turner.
He is survived by his children; Bill Perkins and wife Evelyn live in Chevy Chase, MD, Rick Perkins and wife Franchon live in Waco and Judy Womack and husband Bobby live in Mesquite. 5 grandchildren; Chris Perkins, Matt Womack, Hillary Womack Adams, Megan Perkins Johnston and Alex Perkins and 4 great-grandchildren; Mitchell Johnston, Bryanne Johnston, Jack Johnston and Connor Womack. Jack also has one cousin, Laura Morris, age 99, who lives in Mesquite. Jack was also blessed with numerous nieces and nephews.
