J W Roberson

J.W. Roberson was born August 11, 1930, to the parentage of Bobby Lee Roberson, Sr. and Ella Johnson Roberson, in Douglasville, Texas. He died peacefully in his sleep at 2:25 a.m. on November 13, 2024. He was one of 15 children.

As a young child, J.W. accepted Christ as his personal Savior. He attended Floyd Valley ISD, Douglasville. Later in life, he became a member of Salem Institutional Baptist Church, Dallas. He worked at and retired from Food Maker Corporation of Dallas. He loved to sit in his garage on nice days and talk to his neighbors as they passed by. He also loved to play cards and dominoes with family members and friends.

J.W. united in marriage with Norma Ree Tillis Wynn on December 20, 1964. He became father to Norma's two sons and the couple later adopted twins.

Preceding him in death are: wife, Norma Ree; parents, Bobby Lee, Sr., and Ella; twin daughter and son, Michelle Shunnette and Michael Shunn; grandson, Darwyn Wynn; sisters, Trudie Lee, Georgia Lois, Willie Bell; brothers, Emmett, Burnice, William, Sammie D. and Willie Lee.

He leaves to honor and cherish his memory: sons, James Wynn and Billy Wynn (Caroline) of Duncanville; sisters, Mattie and Bernice of Dallas; brothers, James Douglas and Bobby Lee, Jr., of Dallas; Preston T. (Lisa) of Corsicana; god-children, Tiffany and Tony Watson; three grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
