Irvin served in the United States Army and was a proud member of “The Big Red One” that landed on Omaha Beach in World War II. He served with honor and received two Purple Hearts. He worked in carpentry with his father and became a true artisan. His profession was a carpenter in Dallas, Texas. In retirement, he still enjoyed wood-working, candle making and family. Also in retirement, he volunteered at The Colony Police Department answering telephones for almost 20 years.
Irvin was a Master Mason and a member of Oak Cliff Lodge 705.
Irvin lost his wife Hilda Lee Stovall Martin after 51 years of loving marriage. They had five children and he is survived by all five.
Daughter- Mary Louise Bronar Veselka and husband Jerry Veselka. Granddaughter Diane Elizabeth Skipworth and husband Terry Skipworth. Grandson Robert William (Bill) Bronar III and wife Joddi Bronar with Great-Grandson Robert Dillon (Dillon) Bronar and Great-Granddaughter Megan Elizabeth Bronar.
Son- Irvin Dale Martin, Jr. and wife Cathi Martin. Granddaughter Patricia Martin Bauer. Great-Granddaughter Jennifer Kim Bauer and Grandson Kevin Eric Bauer,
Son- Rodney Gerald Martin and wife Teresa Nadine Martin. Grandson Rodney Gerald (Junior) Martin Jr. with Great-Grandson Jonathan Gerald Martin and Great-Granddaughter Melanie Brigitte Martin. Granddaughter Melissa Christine Martin.
Daughter- Bobbie Gail Fauson and husband Ernest Fredrick (Fred) Fauson, Jr. Granddaughter Leslie Danielle Rodgers and husband William Gabriel (Will) Rodgers with Great-Granddaughter Peyton McKenzie Ross. Grandson Ernest Fredrick (Rick) Fauson, III and partner Jessica (Jessie) Pierce. Grandson Trevor Sinclair Fauson and wife Brooke Elizabeth Fauson.
Daughter- Yanessa Rose Kaserman and husband Gregory Alan (Greg) Kaserman. Grandson Kenneth Michael Kaserman.
He is predeceased by his wife Hilda Lee Martin; parents, O.C. and Gracie Martin; sister Virginia Louise Martin; and son-in-law Robert William Bronar, Jr.
