Steine was the most influential person in my childhood education! She treated me like I was so special, but then she treated everyone that way with her open, friendly, smile. She made me a lover of books and a life-long reader/educator! She was the epitome of the perfect role model for an inquiring young mind! She was an angel even back in the late 50's! Bless her life and memory!

Irene was a friend and neighbor for many years in Dallas.


I will miss her wit and kind heart. She enjoyed
bus day trips to casino in Oklahoma.

It was truly my privilege to be Ms. Irene's nurse. To be allowed to participate in the last few miles of her journey here on earth was a blessing to me. Thank you as a family for choosing  Lifepointe Hospice to walk her home. You will forever be in my thoughts and my prayers.

I really enjoyed talking with Irene over the years and all the stories she told.  Irene will be greatly missed. I learned so much more at the memorial service and enjoyed meeting with the family and everyone sharing with my mother and I.

It is wonderful to read the stories from her past students.  She made a difference in their lives and I know she would be so pleased to know it.  I would like to say to her children what a wonderful job all of you have done in both caring for her and then seeing to her care when she needed expert care.  No one could have done a better job than you three did.  I hope you will find solace and comfort in knowing what a huge difference your hard work made for her.  I am so proud of you all.

I've never forgotten Mrs. McGlothlin. I went to Bradfield Elementary 1st through 6th grade. I still have some very vivid memories of my time in the library with her. When I was in third grade, she and her husband adopted their three children from Germany and there was a picture of them in the paper at the airport. My parents also adopted three children at the same time and I was so excited about having two brothers and a sister. I couldn't wait to tell her my news. It was an exciting time for both of us. She was a blessing in my life!

Rena, please accept our sympathy for the loss of your mother.  Ziba enjoyed visiting with her.  It was nice to read about her educational pursuits, her hobbies, her service as a librarian, and to see her youthful pictures. She was the best librarian ever. I have such vivid wonderful warm memories of her calling me Suzie and helping me find just the right book at Bradfield in the 70's.

So very sorry for your loss. She was such an important part of Bradfield. We all loved library day because she really encouraged the love of reading.

My favorite teacher at Bradfield.  I remember her as a sweet and gentle spirit who loved her students. She is remembered by many and loved by all.  So sorry for your loss.

Mrs, McGlothlin fostered a love of books and reading in countless Bradfield students. Library day was such an exciting day that we all looked forward to with eager expectation of Mrs, McGlothlin reading aloud, teaching us a bit about researching using books, and giving us time to explore the many books. She left a lasting legacy on hundreds of Bradfield kids.

Mrs. McGlothlin will always be remembered as our great librarian at Bradfield Elementary. From the 1st to 5th grade she taught us all a base for responsibility on how to look up books in the card catalog, how to find the books in the library, how to put them back if we did not check them out, and pay a dime for every day your past due book was not turned in. Everybody love their "library day" and time spent with her. RIP Mrs. McGlothlin and thank you for what you taught and showed all how to do...

I first met Irene McGlothlin in the early fall of 1952 when I was a second grader at the John S Bradfield Elementary School where she was the librarian.During the next several years we saw one another regularly. After I finished grade school I 
phoned her regularly during occasions like Christmas,Easter, and when old teachers and former classmates died.I did visit her in her home at Christmas time of 1974 and after that time we exchanged Christmas cards and notes down through the years.She was a wonderful librarian and friend.
