Herbert Lloyd Joiner, age 93, passed away on Friday, November 11,2022 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on May 15,1929 in Duster Texas to Herbert and Stella Joiner. “Lloyd” was raised in Jal, New Mexico and attended Jal High School graduating in 1947. He worked for Pure Oil as a roustabout until 1950 when he was then drafted into the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He served in the engineer division in Greenland and the Baffin Island. Upon his discharge in 1952, he returned to work for Magnolia Oil which began a 31 -year career in production and pipeline with Mobil Oil. In 1953, he met and married Bonnie Jean Williams which resulted in 69 wonderful years of marriage and three children, Michael, Steven, and Roxanne. After marriage the couple settled in Kermit, Texas where they were actively involved in the Eastside Church of Christ until 1974 when they were transferred to Midland, Texas where they became active members of the Westside Church of Christ, serving as a Deacon and Elder. They resided in Midland until 2019 when they moved to Dallas to be near family.
Lloyd was a hardworking man with an incredible sense of humor, a gift for story and joke telling and loved to laugh. He taught his family how to laugh at themselves and life. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to camp in the mountains of Colorado, hunt, and fish. However, his great loves were his Lord, his wife and family. He prioritized his faith and passed it to the next generation to which we are eternally grateful. He is preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Stella Joiner, siblings, Odis Joiner and Dorothy Workman, and his daughter-in-law, Becky Joiner. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Joiner of Dallas, son, Michael Joiner and wife, Patti of Lubbock; Steve Joiner and wife, Linda of Nashville, Tn; and daughter, Roxanne Wright and husband, Dennis of Plano, Tx. He was Grandad to 8 grandchildren; LynnAnne Lowrie and husband, Doug, Lauren Rea and husband, Taylor, Lindsey Joy and husband, Kolbyn, Craig Joiner, and wife, Kelly, Bryan Joiner and wife, Christina, Kyle Joiner and wife, Lisa, and Riley and Hutton Wright, and Great-Great to 12 great grandchildren: Aiden, Haley, Coley, Athen, Kendrick, Laynie, Lottie, Lexi, Deacon, Camden, Leighton and Jack, and family friend, Fanny Green.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 17,2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ted Dickey West Funeral Home at 7990 President George Bush Tpke, Dallas, Tx. Burial will be Tuesday, November 29,2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kermit Cemetery in Kermit, Texas.
