Henry Joe Goodnight, 79, was born June 26, 1940 in Lisbon Texas. The beloved husband to Maria Elena for 61 years, father to Ronald Joe, Becky (Johne) Keown, Donald Allen Goodnight and Papaw to Joy, Tish Jennifer, Dakoda, Nikolaus Zackery and 16 great grand children.
He was predeceased by his brother Harry Logan, his son Ronald Joe, grand daughter LaTish Marie. He was also predeceased by his parents Hugh Logan and Ruth Virginia.
He lived the first 52 years of his life in Dallas and his retirement years in Ore City, Texas. He worked for the City of Dallas for 32 years. He started as a Laborer breaking up meter boxes for the Dallas Water Dept. then to the Dallas Fire Dept. as store keeper and retired as assistant manager for Dallas Water Distribution Dept.
He served 6 years in Naval reserve and served 2 years active duty stationed in Charleston S.C. He, Maria, and Ronnie lived on the beach at the Isle of Palms. The navy paid for college to become C.P.A. but he never certified with the state.
After retirement, he became locksmith, small engine repairman with his company "Tree house Lawn & Garden." The last 15 years he and Maria were Country Western Dance instructors teach over 200 students over East Texas. He studied photography. He loved camping with family and friends and travel through out the United States. His life was in Jesus Christ with the Church of Church.
