Andrew and Louise Baley. She was the oldest of her siblings and a wonderful sister to her four
brothers: Dan,Teddy, Earnest, and Jerrell Baley.
Helen married Bobby Glenn Carr on May 21,1950. They had three sons : Perry, Stewart,
and Rex Carr. Five grandchildren: Steven, Shawna, Erin, Joshua, and Nolan; and
seven great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by both her parents, her husband (Bobby), her youngest son
(Rex), two brother's (Teddy and Dan), and several other friends and family members that I am
sure she is happy to be reunited with once again.
The Carr family moved to Cedar Hill in 1958 and have been active members of the
community ever since. Helen loved the Lord with all her heart and was a lifetime member of
Cedar Heights Baptist Church where she led bible studies, cared for the gardens, and shared
God’s love with others.
Helen was a professional seamstress, and worked at a sewing factory for many years
while her boys were growing up. Then in 1973, she opened Helen's Place, an upholstery and
fabric shop in downtown Cedar Hill. For thirteen years, she did custom sewing for people, made
many Cedar Hill Drill Team uniforms and enjoyed teaching others how to quilt. She was an avid
quilter and made many quilts with the Cedar Hill quilters club and on her own time at home.
In 1986, she sold her shop and went to work for the Cedar Hill Post Office. She enjoyed
driving her postal jeep and made many new friends delivering the mail all around Cedar Hill.
After retiring from the post office in the late 1990`s, she worked with ladies at Bridges Safe
House sharing her love of quilting once again, but also teaching them how to garden and love
Christ as she did. When she was not helping the ladies at Bridges, she stayed busy with her
friends and traveled as often as possible. She was blessed to take two trips to Alaska, one to
Ireland, a mission trip to Mexico, one trip to Israel(Holy Land), and two cruises. Helen grew up
on a farm and never had a lot of money, so she was incredibly grateful that a little country girl
like her had been blessed with the opportunity to explore the world.
Helen Carr (Mawmaw), was greatly loved by her family and friends. While she will be
extremely missed here on Earth, we can all take joy in knowing that she is with the Lord and the
loved ones that preceded her in Heaven.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.laurellanddallas.com for the Carr family.
