Harry Lee Lookabaugh

Harry Lee Lookabaugh was born on October 21, 1924 in Greenfield, OK. He was the second child of Harry Frank Lookabaugh and Edith Blanche Albin. Harry had four brothers and one sister. They all lived a rural life on the farm near Greenfield, OK. He participated in football, basketball and several theatrical projects at Greenfield High School where he graduated in 1942. That same year, he went on to study at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK.

World War II interrupted his college training and in 1943 he joined the U.S. Navy. Harry met Donna Marie Nordquist literally hours before he shipped out to the Pacific where he spent 3 years aboard the U.S.S. Hector as a radio operator. Countless letters were exchanged between the two during his time abroad and upon his return, they married on May 18, 1946. Harry went on to finish college at OSU and graduated in 1949 with a degree in economics.

After graduation, Harry and Donna moved to Scott City, KS where their first child, Mary Kathryn, was born in August of 1949. Just a year later, Harry was called upon by the U.S. Navy to serve again in the Korean War. He returned in 1951 and the family eventually made their way to Wellington, KS where they welcomed their second child, Anna Lee, in May of 1952.

Harry began working in the grocery business and spent several years working around various cities in Kansas. They then moved to Blackwell, OK where he worked as an accountant for an independent oil company from 1957 to 1966. His last career change came in 1966 when he began as an accountant for J. Lee Youngblood Oil Properties. This career change took the family to Dallas, TX and span 30 years after which he retired in 1997. Harry had lived with Donna in their Dallas home until his death on September 21, 2017. Harry was 92 years old.

Harry is survived by his wife of 71 years, Donna Lookabaugh of Dallas, TX; his daughters Mary Hewett and her husband Ron Hewett of Plano, TX and Anna Nash of Rockwall, TX; his grandchildren Greg Hewett, wife Jen Hewett, their children Madeline and Emma of Plano, TX, Chris Hewett and his wife Emily Hewett and their children Stella and Beckham of Lake Highlands, TX and Geoff Hewett of Dallas, TX, Brandi Nash of Rowlett, TX and her son Andrew Scott, and Sherri Tuggle and her husband Mark Tuggle and their children Willow and Luke of Flower Mound, TX; his brother Albert Lookabaugh and his wife Diana Lookabaugh of Denton, TX; his sister Mary Jane Walker of Oklahoma City, OK.

Harry was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Lookabaugh of Oklahoma City, OK, Roy Lookabaugh of Waurika, OK , and Charles Lookabaugh of Greenfield, OK.
