Harold Levine of Dallas, April 30,1931 – February 14, 2011. Hal was born in Newark, N.J. to Rubin and Gussie Levine. Survived by Linda and Dan Gerson, Brenda and David Sutherland, Jill and Tom Lipari, Louise and Jim Marion, Charlie and Beth Alvarez, Cristina Gussie Levine and Harold Rubin and Sarah Levine. Grandfather to Adam Zuvanich; Joel Gerson; Ian and Katie Sutherland; Chandler, Nathan, and Andrew Alvarez. Predeceased by first wife Harriet Shapiro Levine and survived by ex-wife Cristina M. Levine.
A graduate of Weequahic High School, Purdue University and George Washington University Law School (GW law), Hal was a self made man; a child of an immigrant who lived the pinnacle of the American Dream. He lived larger than life and was the consummate entrepreneur and a charismatic, passionate lover of friends and family. He was an innovator and advocate of social justice and truth, and a connoisseur of the finer things in life. He never knew a battle he couldn’t win or a phone he didn’t answer. Sarcasm, quick wit, and humor were his middle name.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following foundations in Hal’s name: Weequahic High School, American Heart Association, Alpha Epsilon Pi, Jewish National Fund, GW Law, and the Yiddish Book Center of Amherst, Mass. Special thanks to Terri Daniels, and all his loving caregivers. Funeral services will be held at Sparkman Hillcrest Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at noon.
