He left this world peacefully at his loving home in Dallas on November 23, 2018.
Guadalupe was the third son conceived by Michaela Guajardo and Christ Lopez. He grew up with his brothers Jimmy Pena, Richard Pena, Jesse Pena, Johnny Pacheco and sister Catalina Pacheco.
On August 29, 1958 Guadalupe married his beautiful wife, Elisa Lopez, in his home town Westoff, TX. Knowing each other since a young age they immediately picked up from a strong friendship and love they shared and built a deeper relationship which led to a big cherished family with 5 kids.
Guadalupe was a hard-working husband, father, and friend. His joyful and affectious personality knew no boundaries. Guadalupe would constantly play, joke, and humor anyone and at any time. He was a true, smart self-taught, fast learner and a handyman who could fix almost anything. He was a providing husband and father who was a hard-working concrete finisher. During his off time, he enjoyed working on his cars, being in the back yard with his own personal shop, fixing different projects around the house, enjoying swap meets or just sitting on the porch in his rocking chair and enjoying his good hot coffee Elisa would always fix for him. Guadalupe enjoyed nothing more than watching classical western movies. His favorite singer was Hank Williams, which on a good day you could catch him singing or even quoting his favorite John Wayne movie lines.
Guadalupe’s greatest talent was being himself and being true to himself. He was known for his love of living a good long life for the ones he loved. He was a true cowboy by heart that had a sincere tough love for all. Guadalupe Lopez Sr. can never be replaced, and surely will never be forgotten.
Guadalupe’s memory shall live on through each and every life he touched.
“I'm going home, I'm going home
When my life here is o'er I'm going home
Won't it be so sweet, to rest at Jesus' feet
When my life here is o'er I'm going home”
-Hank Williams
