Battalion Chief (Ret.) Gregory Ellis Johnson

Greg was a lifelong Dallas Fort Worth resident. He graduated from David W. Carter High School (1973).

Greg retired as a Battalion Chief after 23 years with Dallas County Fire and Rescue.

Greg also worked for Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for more than 33 years. Greg was diagnosed with inoperable liver cancer on January 2020.Greg’s Catholic faith was strong and he was at peace. He continued to do what he loved, fixing equipment, training new fire fighters and old ones to be sure they were as safe as possible, creating artwork (stain glass, metal art) and being with family.

Greg departed this life on May, 5, 2020.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Earle & Dorothy Johnson and wife; Sandra Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his memories; companion Debbie Weaver, children; Jennifer(Chad), Mandi (Randy), Shane(Nissa), Ashley, Tiffany(Brian), Lindsey(Cory), Kim(Matt), Thirteen grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Memorial donations can be made to Texas Scottish Rite Scholarship Fund and Shriners Burn Hospital in Galveston Texas.
