Geraldine Lena Jobron Kelly entered heaven on September 17th, 2010. Gerry was born April 3, 1920 to John Jobron and Minnie Melvina George Jobron in Silver Creek, Mississippi. She grew up in Silver Creek with her 6 siblings. Gerry was a proud graduate of Mississippi University for Women (the “W”). She married her college sweetheart, Alton D. Kelly, the love of her life. She was predeceased by her husband, Alton D. Kelly, sisters, Katherine Steverson, Marybelle Crouch, brothers George Jobron, and Edward Jobron. Gerry is survived by her children, Van Kelly and wife, Mary Kelly (Lawrence, KS); Babs Lawrence and husband, David Lawrence; Beth Cavender and husband Brent Cavender, 8 grandchildren, Catherine and Laura Kelly; Bryan, Blake and Leigh Lawrence; Kelly, Elizabeth and Caroline Cavender; her sister Alice Alsobrook (Lookout Mt., TN) and her brother John Jobron (Chattanooga, TN) and numerous nieces and nephews. Throughout her life, Gerry was a wonderful homemaker in every sense of the word and an active volunteer in the community through WMU, Meals on Wheels, Friends Who Care, Brother Bill’s and Salvation Army. She enjoyed her memberships in The Dallas Woman’s Club, The Marianne Scruggs Garden Club, The Craig Class, Northwest Literary Club and The Sewing Club. She was an active member in the Joy class at Park Cities Baptist Church where her friends welcomed her always. Her faithful friends and wonderful neighbors surrounded her with love and many kindnesses. Gerry enjoyed cooking, entertaining and was an avid gardener. One of her greatest joys and a wonderful legacy she leaves is the close relationships she formed with her grandchildren and the love she poured on them as she helped and watch them grow up into young adults. With her Southern manners, her fierce independence, tenacity and her strong faith in Jesus Christ, she lived a life worthy of the admiration and love they all have shown her. The family especially wants to thank her wonderful caregivers Gloria Berkins Alexander, Yvonne Lewis, Beverly Bufkin and Flor Hernandez. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, September 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Ellis Chapel at Park Cities Baptist Church, 3933 Northwest Parkway, Dallas, Texas. Memorials may be made to HP Education Foundation, Brother Bill’s Helping Hand or a charity of your choice.
