She was born in Oklahoma City on March 2, 1937. She was devoted to her family in her roles as wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was an avid tennis player, tournament fan and pet lover during her years in Oklahoma, Georgia, Arizona and Texas.
She will be greatly missed by her loving husband Martin, daughter Laura Baker, son Matthew and grandchildren Alexa, Kelyn and Sawyer each of whom cherished being doted over by their loving "Bobo"; by her bonus children David Floyd and Cindy Peoples and husband Jack and bonus grandchildren Wendy and Beth. She is also survived by her brother, Jim "Pudge" Murphy and his wife Pat of Oklahoma City; sisters Mary Ann Nelson and husband H. Wayne of Sante Fe, NM; Glae Pile and husband Roger of Tampa, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews; all of whom enjoyed years of wonderful family events with her.
Gerri was preceded in death by her mother, Florence "Nana" Murphy, father James Murphy and brothers Tommy Murphy and Edmond John Worsley.
The family expresses profound thanks to the dedicated nurses of Novus Hospice Care and especially for Dr. Virginia Stark-Vance's kindness.
There will be a visitation between 5-7 PM, Tuesday, April 1 at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, Dallas, and chapel service at 2 PM, April 3 at Hahn-Cook Funeral Home, Oklahoma City followed by burial at Rose Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the charity of your choice.
