Gerald was born July 20, 1957, to John Gay Wester and Myrna Sue Schulze. He graduated from Plano High School Class of 1975, and served in the United States Marine Corps. For the past decade he enjoyed a highly successful career as a valued team member of O'Reilly Auto Parts Corporation. His biggest passion, however, was always the Texas Longhorns.
Words that have often been used to describe Gerald include caring, honorable, a true gentleman, a faithful friend, a giving and generous spirit, a loving heart, and a constant blessing in the lives of his family and friends.
Gerald was preceded in passing by his beloved wife, Veneda “Susie” Wester, his father, John Gay Wester, and sister, Julie Hopwood Smith.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Myrna Sue and Leroy Schulze; brother and sister-in-law John Patrick and Cheryl Wester, brother Glenn Austin Wester, brother and sister-in-law James and Tracy Schulze; sisters Linda Mills, Jacki Paredes, Carolyn Cox, sister and brother-in-law Caitlin Alliene and Clay Drewry; step-sons Thomas and Kerry Trimm, and step-daughters Lisa Johnson and Christie Atchley; nephews Thomas, Kelly, Chase, Eric, Jack, and AJ; nieces Kristel, Nicole, Ashley, Jessica, Brittany, and Samantha; as well as several step-grandchildren and great nieces/nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 8, 2013, at 6 pm, at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 9, 2013 at 10 am, at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the name of Gerald Wester to the University of Texas Alumni/Texas Exes Forty Acres Scholarship Fund. Contact information for donations is as follows:
