George was a Merchant Marine, oiler, fireman and brick mason. He was known for his love of square and round dancing, flying planes, Dallas Cowboy football, working out and boxing. George was very active in his church, Eastminster Presbyterian Church, formerly known as Calvary Presbyterian Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Madelyne Singletary. George is survived by his daughter, Susan Rinehart and husband, William; granddaughters, Brittini Heather Rinehart (Zach) and Virginia Rose Rinehart-Singleton (Cody) and great-grandson, Aiden Alan Crawford.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Services will be held on Monday, January 23, 2017 at 10:00am at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
