George was born in Dallas, TX on January 3, 1936. He graduated from North Dallas High School where he was an All-Region multi-sport athlete and received a business degree from S.M.U. where he played on the baseball team and was an ATO.
George was married to Carol Hill Poston in 1972; they were married 51 years.
George worked in the Dallas real estate industry for many years and was one of the first developers to concentrate on the North Dallas Tollway corridor from LBJ up to Plano in the early '70's and '80's. He served as the honorary French consul for Dallas in the 80's and 90's. He was very well-read and enjoyed history, golf, and traveling worldwide. He was a lover and supporter of the arts and was a longtime patron of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and The Dallas Museum of Art. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and was loved by so many people. He was a strong Christian who passed this legacy of faith to all his family.
George is survived by his wife, Carol, his sister, Suzi Parsell Thompson, and her husband Jodie C. Thompson, Jr., and George's children, Kimberly Poston, Brett Poston and wife, Dottie Thompson Poston, and John Poston. His second son, George David Poston predeceased him in 2015 and his first wife, Beverly Murray Wilson, predeceased him in 2022. He loved spending time with his grandchildren: Blake Poston and wife Savannah Seifert Poston (and one great-grandchild, their daughter Poppy), Margot Poston Branton and husband Chris Branton, Michael Poston, James Poston, George Poston, Beverly Poston, Elizabeth Poston, David Poston, and Anne Poston.

The graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 2:00pm, followed by a reception at Dallas Country Club from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.
