George “Beau” Mansour Jr. passed away peacefully at home in Dallas, Texas on Sunday, December 22, 2013. Known to his many friends and family as “Beau” he was born in LaGrange, Georgia on February 15, 1945 to Josephine and George Mansour Sr. A 1963 graduate of LaGrange High School he attended St. Leo College in Dade City, Florida. He graduated from the University of Georgia with an ABJ degree in journalism with a major in advertising. In 1967 he graduated from a special seminar in Executive Training at New York University School of Retailing. Beau grew up in the family retail clothing business started by his grandparents in 1917. Considered an expert in men’s ready-to- wear by the Men’s Retailers Association and his many customers, Beau moved to Dallas in 1992 and continued his career and extraordinary personal service in the men’s clothing business.
Known to be a kind and gentle soul, Beau was greatly loved by his children, grandchildren, friends and associates. Although his passion was men’s retail his greatest joy was time spent with his family and close friends.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Unis Mansour and three children: George Michael Mansour, III and wife, Theresa; Michelle Mansour Riley and husband, Scott; and Thomas Anthony Mansour; and eight grandchildren; Catherine and Philip Simpkins, Savannah, Michael, Ashley, Lauren, Jack and Christopher Mansour.
Pallbearers are: Tom Unis Jr., Joseph Unis Sr., Thomas Unis III, Joseph Unis Jr., Cullen Eubank, Scott Riley, Ed Fjordbak, John Saba, AG Saab, Joseph Rice, Jr. and John Gussio.
Visitation will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 6306 Kenwood Ave. on Thursday, December 26, 5:30 to 7:00 followed by recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 pm. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on Friday, December 27 at 10:00 am, Reverend Monsignor Milam Joseph presiding. Interment will be at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
