On March 22, 1932 George Louis Allen Jr was born in New Orleans, La to George and Norma Allen. After the family moved to Dallas, Tx, he attended St. Peter's Elementary School and served as an altar boy at St. Peter's Catholic Church.
He attended Lincoln High School where he participated in athletic activities as well as the Student Council,Hi Y, Boy Scouts and the debating team. Upon graduation he attended Hampton Institute and after the first year, transferred to Xavier University, where he met his devoted wife of 69 years, Shirley Hurel.
They moved to Dallas, Tx and in1952, their daughter Gail was born. Their son, George Allen III was born in1967.
He held many jobs until he settled into a career of service in the Dept. of Health, Education and Welfare.( currently known as the Office of Health and Human Services).He was an EEOC inspector for over 30 years and retired to pursue his interest in golf, fishing and hunting. His illness robbed him of that dream.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, his daughter, Gail and his son, George II. He is predeceased by his Dad, George Allen, Sr, his mother, Norma Allen, his two brothers, Don and Arthur and his sister, Norma Parker. He is survived by his cousins, Don Allen and Eric Wright, his sister-in-law Daisy Allen and several nieces and nephews
