Gene T. Longan, 68, of Forney, Texas passed away peacefully with his family at his side on August 20, 2023. He was the son of Leo and Martha Longan born in Little Rock, Arkansas September 11, 1954. Gene graduated from Bryan Adams High School. Gene married the love of his life, Dorcas J Mitchell on October 11, 1974. He was a US Navy Veteran and after his military service he had a career of 39 years in the Commercial Heating and Air Conditioning industry with United Mechanical. While in the Navy Gene earned the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy Expeditionary Medal, 2nd Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy Battle “E” and the Good Conduct Medal. Gene is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorcas J Longan. He is also survived by his daughter, Kellie Everett; son, Michael Longan; daughter, Jettie Whitmore; grandchildren, Avery Whitmore, Eli Whitmore, Olive Everett, Lillian Everett, Emma Rose Everett; brothers and sister, Dean Longan, Pat Longan and Janie Tahu. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at the DFW National Cemetery.
