Gary Wayne Pearson

Gary Wayne Pearson of Garland. Texas, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021. Gary was born to Esther and Robert Pearson in Wichita, Kansas on July 12, 1946. He graduated from Derby High School in Derby, Kansas in 1964. He enlisted the Army in 1967. He and his wife Paula married on August 9, 1969. He was stationed at Ft. Lee, Virginia his whole tour of duty.

After being discharged from the Army they set out to find a job. Visiting relatives and job hunting landed them in Dallas, Texas. Gary's first job in Dallas was with Western Electric. During the time he worked there, he received his Associates degree from Eastfield College and his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from North Texas State University in 1978. Next, he went to work for Texas Instruments. During the time he worked there he pursued his Master of Business Administration Degree from Amber University which he received in 1991. During his career he worked in inventory control or purchasing. He also worked at Ericsson for a number of years and retired from Raytheon.

Gary was a longtime member of Saturn Rd. Church of Christ. He and his wife spent a number of years helping out in the Cradle Roll class. He enjoyed helping with the young children. Another activity that he enjoyed volunteering for was the CPR (CarePlayRead) program that was conducted in the summer. The children from nearby Garland schools came to the church daily to have a Bible story, different games and activities, and read. He participated in the reading room where the children came and sat with an adult that listened to them.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Esther and Robert Pearson, and his sister Rhonda Keen.

He is survived by his wife Paula Pearson, daughter Michelle Kelley and her husband Thomas, his son Gregory Pearson, grandchildren Hannah, and Michelle Kelley, and grandson Grey Pearson.
