Frederick Stephano Merrill, 84, of Dallas, TX passed away August 27, 2023. He was born in Dallas, Texas on July 24, 1939. Fred graduated from St. Mark's School of Texas and received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University.
Freddie, aka Billy Laredo, worked in Architectural Interior Design for his career with his company Frederick Merrill & Associates, Inc. He began in the business world with Trish Wilson Interior Design and moved forward on his own. He had a passion for art, music, classic cars, Harley Davidson motorcycles, and many people of all types.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Faye Merrill and his father Frederick Davidson Merrill. He is survived by his son Scott Merrill Pollock, Scott's wife Rana Lee Pollock, his grandson Christopher Pollock, his brother Michael Merrill, and his sister Wendy Merrill Holsapple and her husband Jeff Holsapple.
Freddie had many accomplishments throughout his life in the business world. As a restauranteur he was known for Cowboys Club's for Jerry Jones, El Torito in Los Angeles, Packard's Restaurant, Studebaker's Restaurant, Confetti's Restaurant, DFW Airport Terminal D restaurants, Lombardi's, Goff's Hamburgers, and many other restaurants including locations in Vail, Colorado.
Freddie's outgoing spirit will be missed. He liked being out and about, having a good time, and being the life of the party! He found joy in riding his Harley, cruising with the top down on his yellow Corvette, or driving to a fancy gathering in his Rolls Royce. Sometimes you would catch him on an afternoon drive in his Bentley as well. No matter what he chose to drive, Freddie was always out to have a good time. No matter how far his adventures took him he never forgot his roots. He contributed to SMU, St. Mark's School of Texas and Greenhill School, amongst others. He was also a member and supporter of the Lovers Lane United Methodist Church.
The visitation will be held Friday, September 1, 2023 at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. The funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 10:00 am followed by interment in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
