Fred L. Martinez

Frederico "Fred" Lopez Martinez, 88, of Dallas, TX, passed away on December 20, 2020 in Dallas, TX from complications of COVID-19. Fred was born in Rosser, TX to Luciano and Martina Martinez on March 3, 1932.

His early years were spent in La Bajada on Wake Street where he met and married the love of his life Lucia (Lucy) Garcia Martinez on April 26, 1948 in Dallas, TX. In Oak Cliff they raised five children. As a son of migrant family workers, he aspired to offer his children a better way of life through the importance of education and developing a good work ethic. By always offering his support, he inspired his children to become a domestic goddess, a plumber, a school educator, a business owner and a Healthcare Network Provider Advocate. Fred also served as a mentor and father figure for several of his nieces and nephews. For this, we are forever grateful.

Fred worked as a Master Plumber for Brandt Engineering until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church. He was a lifetime and 4th Degree member of The Knights of Columbus Oak Cliff Council 3593 for 35 years where he served as an Officer Trustee.

Fred was always a loving son to his mother and father, a devoted husband to his wife, Lucy who passed away in 1993, and a faithful brother to Juan, Cruz, and Joe Martinez, his sisters Frances Carrazco and Julia Hernandez whom he loved unconditionally, and an awesome grampy to two great-granddaughters, Jacqueline Irene Martinez and Ashleigh Anne San Miguel, and granddaughter-in-law, Candace Ann Martinez, all who preceded him in death.

Fred is survived by his children, Irene and Joe San Miguel, Jr., Robert and Michelle Martinez, Linda Martinez, Freddie and Gloria Martinez, and Sophia and Anthony Tamez, grandchildren, Michele San Miguel, Joe San Miguel III, Amy San Miguel, Jason San Miguel, Robert Martinez, Jr., Cristal Martinez, Marcus Martinez and Cori Wilson, Jennifer Rubalcado, Felicia Rubalcado, Jacob Paul Martinez-Rodriguez and Kendra Clifton, Celeste Martinez, Angie and Nathan Davis, Amanda Martinez and Kate Salvani, Lucy Tamez, Anthony Jr. and Katy Tamez, Michael and Audrey Tamez, and Mellissa Cantu, great- grandchildren, Abria San Miguel, Joe San Miguel IV, Victor de los Santos, Renae Martinez, Elaina Lewis, Andre Lewis, Julia Martinez, Shianne Martinez, Roman Martinez, Julian Martinez, John Paul Martinez, Sebastian Martinez, Ellie Martinez, and Benjamin DiMeo Martinez-Rodriguez, great-great grandchildren, Elijah Martinez, Ava Torres, Ernesto Torres, Adrian San Miguel, Nevaeh Martinez, Bella Martinez, Aliyah Ann Martinez, Alinah de los Santos, Antonio de los Santos, Jacqueline Reyes, Everleigh Rose Olvera, Ahlani Grace Fabela, and Selah Reign Rodriguez.

Pallbearers will be Jason San Miguel, Joe San Miguel III, Robert Martinez, Jr., Jacob Paul Martinez-Rodriguez, Roman Martinez, and Joe San Miguel IV.
