Frankie Louise Self

Frankie Louise Self, age 91, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022 in Gun Barrel City, Texas. Frankie was born May 13, 1930 in Ferris, Texas to Frank Julius Liebel and Nettie Matilda Sanderson Liebel. Frankie was raised in Wilmer, Texas and graduated from Wilmer-Hutchins High School in 1948. She married Mike E Self, Jr in 1977 and the couple had a blended family of 3 children. Frankie was a catalog return clerk and timekeeper at Sears where she worked for more than 29 years.

In her spare time Frankie enjoyed to travel with her family and Calvary Hill Baptist Church of Mesquite, Texas church family. She enjoyed the casinos, working in her flower beds, gardening, and going out to eat, especially at El Fenix in downtown Dallas. She enjoyed attending her church services and all church functions. Her family and friends will always remember her as a sweet loving Nana and friend. She was a Nana to her immediate and extended family.

Frankie is preceded in death by her parents, Frank Julius Liebel and Nettie Matilda Sanderson Liebel; husband, Mike E. Self and brothers, Billy Liebel and Don Liebel. She is survived by daughter, Carol Starks Swenson and son-in-law, Earl L. Swenson, granddaughter, Jana M. Campbell, grandson-in-love, Randall Morse, great-granddaughter, Lauren Brooke Campbell; Son, Larry D. Starks, daughter-in-love and caregiver, Kathy Markham; Son, Michael W. Self; grandson, Cameron W. Self, wife, Kirsten, great-granddaughter, Sutton Emery Self; grandson, Cody M. Self, wife, Maddi and great-granddaughter, Quinn Arcadi Self; siblings, James Liebel, wife, Sandra, Ann Hester, husband, Aubrey and Jan Miller. She is also survived by several nephews, nieces, greats and several honorary grandkids who lovingly called her Nana.

A visitation for Frankie will be held Friday, April 29, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. A funeral service will occur Saturday, April 30, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. A committal service will occur Saturday, April 30, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228.
