Frank H. McKnight passed peacefully on January 27, 2022 at the age of eighty-eight years. Frank was born in Gilmer, Texas and at a young age moved to Dallas with his mother. Frank was predeceased by his precious wife and “best buddy” Edna. They were happily married over 60 years. Frank is survived by his children Guy and wife Cheryl McKnight, Cindy Burton, grandchildren Lauren and husband Shawn Plemons, Jared McKnight, Emily and husband Rily Bush, Corinne Burton and great grandchildren Berklie and Katelyn Plemons, Elliot and Beau Bush.
Frank attended Forest Avenue High School in Dallas. After graduation Frank enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a gunner’s mate during the Korean War.
Frank’s newspaper career began in the 1940’s throwing a route for the Dallas Times Herald and later the Dallas Morning News. Upon his return from the Navy, Frank rejoined the Dallas Morning News. He worked as a Printer’s Apprentice, in the Advertising Department, and became a Contractor for the Dallas News. In the late 60’s Frank was asked to join the Circulation Department in office. In 1994 Frank retired from the Dallas Morning News as Senior Vice President - Circulation Department. Frank was also 32nd Degree Mason.
The Memorial Service will be at Laurel Land Funeral Chapel, Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation following. In lieu of flowers, please consider donation to Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital.
A celebration of life for Frank will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 South R.L., Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75232, followed by a visitation from 2:45 PM to 3:30 PM.
