On January 9, 2012 Frank Bridges Haughton heard his savior say, ''Well done, good and faithful servant.” A lifelong resident of Dallas, Frank was born June 28, 1927 to William and Jennie Lou Haughton. Following graduation from North Dallas High School he joined the Navy where he served on the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga. Upon his discharge, Frank returned to Dallas and attended SMU, lettering in track and basketball. In 1949 he began his lifelong career in the oil business, starting as a roughneck for Sun Oil Company. On April 28, 1951 he married the love of his life, Rosamond (Sandy) Haughton, and together they shared 60 wonderful years. Frank spent 17 years working at Republic National Bank before finishing his career as an independent oil and gas landman. He had many interests, but was passionate about golf, playing at Glen Lakes and Prestonwood Country Clubs until he was 82 years old. He was known to his golf cronies as "Mr. Clean". Frank and Sandy's greatest joy in life has always been their family: Frank (Shelley), Ellie, Ben, Sam, Zach of Billings, Montana; Jane (John), Adam, Luke of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Bill (Lori), Leslie Catherine, Jennie Lou of Dallas; as well as the dearest sister-in-law, Betty Haughton, and precious nieces and nephews whom he cherished. Frank was predeceased by his parents, brother W.R. (Billy) Haughton and his sister, Mary Ellen (Haughton) Forde. Frank grew in his faith in Jesus Christ while attending Grace Bible Church and Park Cities Presbyterian Church. He lived and believed that eternal life is gained only by faith in Jesus. The family wishes to thank the staff at The Plaza at the Edgemere for their loving care. Visitation will be at Sparkman Hillcrest, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy, on Thursday January 12th, from 5pm to 7pm. Frank's memorial service will be at 2 pm on Friday, January 13th at Park Cities Presbyterian Church 4124 oak Lawn. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dallas Theological seminary, 3909 Swiss Ave., Dallas, Texas 75204.
"Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired. They will walk and not become weary.” Isaiah 40:31
We know Dad teed it up this afternoon and cranked one down the middle.
