Gregg, Francis Matthews “Frank”, age 85, peacefully died on Epiphany, January 6, 2013 in Dallas, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Carolyn Andrews Gregg, his daughter Daryle Gregg Currie (husband Gary Currie) of Flower Mound, TX; granddaughter Adrianne Currie of Dallas, TX; and brother Ronald D Gregg (wife Judy Carlton Gregg) of Phoenix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents Francis Marion Gregg and Lottie Mae Matthews Gregg and his brother John Bruce Gregg, all from Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Frank was born on May 9, 1927 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, graduated high school in Clarksdale, MS, attended University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), and proudly served in the US Marine Corps. He then attended Southern Methodist University where he took as many art classes as were offered, later teaching for the art department. Most importantly, Frank met Mary Carolyn Andrews at SMU. They married December 29, 1950 and happily stayed in Dallas.
Professionally, Frank spent most of his life in the Interior Design industry, working with designers and, later, at Phillips Galleries. Frank had been an active member of St Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, volunteering in many areas, including becoming Acolyte Trainer, one of the first Chalice Bearers, a member of the Money Counting Team and an adult sponsor for the EYC (youth group). Frank had a strong, deep love and appreciation for his family, his friends and for a good laugh.
A memorial service will be held at St Michael Episcopal Church on Friday, January 11 at 11:00am in the St Michael Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank’s memory to St. Michael’s Pastoral Care Fund, the American Alzheimer’s Association or the Dallas Humane Society.
