Frances Lillian (Honey) Fletcher passed on to be with her maker on August 1, 2010. She was born in Billings, Montana, raised on the family ranch in Laurel, Montana, and graduated from Billings High School. In 1941 she married Vern Fletcher who worked for 20th Century Fox and Paramount Pictures. Together, they were transferred to many cities including Denver, Salt Lake City, Indianapolis, Seattle, and eventually settled in Dallas. In 1994, Honey moved to Commerce, Texas to be near to her children and grandchildren.
Honey was a long-term sales associate at Foleys, and was active in her church, serving as elder, church school teacher, and superintendant. She also served as a Girl Scout leader for her two daughters and was a volunteer bereavement counselor with the Visiting Nurses Association Hospice. She loved being a part of hospice and said she hoped she gave as much as she received.
Her husband Vern Fletcher died in 1983, and her special companion Vern Laurence preceded her in death in 2008. She is survived by her two daughters Tara Gates of Great Mills, Maryland and Tina Fletcher of Commerce, Texas, their husbands William Gates and Richard Selvaggi, her five grandchildren Andrew Fletcher Gates of Denton, Texas, Kali and Molly Gates of Great Mills, Maryland, Rose Fletcher Selvaggi of San Antonio, Texas, and Lily Jiang Mei Mei Selvaggi of Commerce, Texas, and her niece Beverly Beaumont of Billings, Montana.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 5 at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Commerce, Texas. Visitation will be held 2:00-3:00 p.m. Thursday at Sparkman/Hillcrest, followed by a graveside service at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Memorials can be made to the Visiting Nurses Association, 1440 W.
