Elizabeth Cannon was born December 23, 1910 on the family farm near Alvarado, Texas. Education was always a center point in her life. They spent the Depression years living in and around Mt. Pleasant, Texas. During World War II, Marcus and Frances moved to Portland, Oregon, where they aided the war effort. When the war ended they settled back in the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas.
She was an active member of the Pleasant Mound United Methodist Church for over 50 years, where she taught Sunday School and was active in the United Methodist Women's Group.
She and Marcus sacrificed to ensure their son attended college. He was the first in the Cannon family to do so, graduating from SMU. She was active in the Toast Master Organization for many years, was a painter who showed her work locally, and travelled to Europe, the Middle East, and Hawaii. She retired from Dixieco Company in 1973, where she was a bookkeeper and accountant for 25 years.
