Foye Lynn Thompson was born January 13, 1948 in Morenci, Arizona and passed away April 26, 2018. He grew up in Lubbock, TX, graduating from Lubbock High School. Foye served in the U. S. Army, spending a year in Germany and a year in Vietnam, where he earned medals, including a Bronze Star for Valor. After many years as an electrician, he went to college where he earned a BA, from Criswell College and at Dallas Theological College earned a MA in Christian Education and a MA in Cross Cultural Ministry. One of his favorite ministries was as a substitute teacher. He retired in about 2010 due to bad health. Foye was a member of Lake Pointe Church, Rockwall. He enjoyed organizing his tools, driving his Mustang, watching movies, telling jokes, solving combination puzzles (like Rubik’s Cube), collecting ducks (because he could talk and sneeze like Donald Duck), and most of all talking with friends and strangers. Foye was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Foye Thompson and Alice Marie Kirkbride Thompson and his older brother, Donnie Carol. His step-father, William (Bill) A. Everett, also preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Lolana, his son, Jay A. Thompson and wife Larissa and daughter, Amy K. Thompson Pierce and husband Bradley D. Pierce; grandchildren, Titus and Jordan Thompson; three sisters, Barbara J. Goodwin, Carolyn S. White, and Judy M. Flowers and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial will be at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Dallas Theological Seminary, 3909 Swiss Ave., Dallas, TX 75204.
