Fidencio Herrera, or Fred as he was better known, was born on November 16, 1937 to Thomas and Casimira Herrera in Dallas, Texas. He served his country in the United States Navy for just over 2 years. Fred met Dina "Diana" Morales in 1960 and they wed that same year on Christmas Eve. Fred and Dina had 6 children, Rebecca, Joshua, Martha, Mary, Nathan and Abigail.
Fred pursued a career as a chef, making the BEST mexican food in Texas! He was employed by such restaurants as Tupinamba, Mariano's, Benavides, Kim & Jenny's, Judy's and even co-owned his own restaurant a time or two; La Hacienda (Dallas, TX) first, and Herrera's Mexican Cafe in Oklahoma later on.
Fred loved and served God with his whole heart, and his desire was for everyone else to do the same.
Fred is preceded in death by his wife Dina, daughter Martha, son-in-law Joe Copeland, his parents, and his brothers Thomas, Virgil and Jorge. He is survived by his sister Gloria Vega and brother John Herrera; children Rebecca (Max) Saucedo, Joshua (Leslie) Herrera, Mary (Rodney) Beebe, Nathan (Elvira) Herrera, and Abigail (Walt) Irizarry; 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A visitation for Fidencio will be held Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 South R.L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, Texas 75232. A funeral service will occur Monday, October 11, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Crossroad of Life Church, 123 W. US 67 Highway, Duncanville, Texas 75137. A committal service will occur Monday, October 11, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
